This 3-year long-term professional development initiative was established in 2007 to strengthen North Carolina's Kindergarten classrooms.  Of 219 teachers who applied, funding was available for the selection of 35 teachers.  Over the past years of the project, the teachers and their principals have been exploring ways to create classrooms that are designed for 5-year-old children while providing a rigorous curriculum for all students.
